Using SiteFusion CMS with DITA L&T

Welcome back to the second installment of our exploration into the dynamic duo of DITA L&T and SiteFusion CMS. In Part 1, we delved into the intricacies of DITA Learning and Training Specialization (DITA L&T) and the benefits of adopting DITA L&T for the management of learning content. Now, it’s time to shift our focus to the nitty-gritty of SiteFusion CMS’s benefits for handling your DITA L&T content.

Managing DITA L&T Content with SiteFusion

One of the key benefits of using SiteFusion CMS for learning content creation and management is that it provides a centralized platform for managing all aspects of the content lifecycle. This means that content creators can focus on creating high-quality educational content, without having to worry about the technical aspects of managing and delivering that content. SiteFusion CMS takes care of all the behind-the-scenes work, ensuring that content is delivered in the right format and channel, and that it is up-to-date and accurate at all times.

SiteFusion CMS is a comprehensive content management system with integrated DITA L&T authoring capabilities, enabling effortless creation and management of educational content in a structured and modular manner. Content creation in DITA L&T is seamlessly facilitated within the user-friendly, browser-based XML-editor called Fonto Editor. SiteFusion CMS efficiently stores and manages granular DITA L&T content and associated media files, simplifying content management and updates. The robust version control system ensures meticulous tracking and management of content changes, guaranteeing a secure and reliable approach to educational content management. Additionally, SiteFusion extends its functionality with the support of “LCE” (Learning Content Extra), an open-source enhancement that enriches the system with an expanded range of question types and visualizations.

SiteFusion CMS offers versatile features that enable seamless content delivery to learning management systems, online learning platforms, and automated print composition. This ensures that content created within SiteFusion CMS can be effortlessly repurposed and distributed across various formats and channels, catering to the specific requirements of learners. For instance, content can be delivered in HTML or SCORM format for online learning. SiteFusion CMS can also transform exports into QTI format to align with assessment software systems’ standards.

Regarding print production, two primary approaches exist in SiteFusion CMS for generating PDF formats: highly automated rendering via PrintCSS to directly generate PDF from DITA L&T XML, and a more design-rich process using a system like Typefi or via our CI HUB Connector. SiteFusion CMS simplifies the configuration of these delivery channels, ensuring that content is delivered in the most efficient and engaging manner possible.
